At launch, Amazon Autos only provides Hyundai vehicles. Customers can browse through a wide range of available models, trims, colors, fuel types, and other features. The platform enables users to filter results based on their preferences, making the car shopping process more convenient.
Amazon states that Autos customers can choose a vehicle, secure financing, electronically sign the relevant paperwork, and place their order with just a few clicks. This streamlines the car buying process and brings the simplicity and ease that customers expect from Amazon to this significant purchase.
While Hyundai vehicles are available initially, Amazon plans to add more automotive brands next year. This expansion will allow customers to browse by make, providing them with more choices and options.
New functionality such as leasing and additional financing options will also be introduced in the coming year, enhancing the overall car buying experience on Amazon Autos.
The nature of online shopping with Amazon Autos means that some elements of traditional car buying are eliminated. There is no opportunity to haggle for a better deal as prices are set, keeping costs transparent. Additionally, there is no option to test drive vehicles to get a feel for them or consult with sales associates about different car options.
However, some customers may appreciate the lack of salespeople, considering it a point in Amazon Autos' favor. Customers can trade in their current car by answering questions about its condition to have it valued and then dropping it off when picking up their new one.
Currently, Amazon Autos is only available in 48 U.S. cities at launch. However, plans are in place to expand to more locations next year. As of December 2024, Amazon Autos is available in cities such as Atlanta, Austin, Baltimore, and many more.
This expansion will bring the convenience of online car shopping to more customers across the country, making it easier for them to find and purchase their dream cars.
