It's been an extended period since the last musical offering. Six years on the cusp of seven since the pre-pandemic hit "Nothing But The Truth" graced the scene in 2018. And let me tell you, this might just be the band's most remarkable release yet...
The Sonic Journey Begins
The opener "Flavor of the Danger" holds a unique charm. It's like a sonic cocktail with a splash of Johnny Thunders, melodies reminiscent of the Ramones, and a dash of Sleaze from Dog's D'Amour. It presents a lower-key start compared to what one might anticipate, more of a warm "welcome back old friend" moment rather than a "sonic slap in the face".The mid-tempo "Let's Get High" nails a Dolls riff, exuding laid-back cool. It's a track that instantly won my heart and remains one of my favorites. "Slippin' Away" slows down the gently cruising car, offering a great languid reminiscence. It's a cool ballad that showcases a lot of maturity. And when "Walk the World" finally picks up pace, it has a 90's smooth Iggie meets Billy Idol groove. So far, the album is off to a great start! The Classic Reworked
"Maggie May" is an interesting punked-up version of the all-time classic. As a big fan of early Rod Stewart and Faces, it's wonderful to hear this reinterpretation. It's a great take on a classic song, but I'll always hold a special place for the original. This shows how the band takes elements from the past to create something that pays homage while looking towards the future. The Rocking Anthems
"Superhero", whose video you might have seen a few months back, is a cool and catchy rocker. "I Want You to Know" is a unique Dogs meets Reggae rocker that is both appealing and brief. We then return to the acoustic with "Hollywood", which has a real Dogs D'Amour vibe both in sound and vocals. It's a bittersweet ode to a place, beautifully played and a real highlight. "Wasted Tears" is another cool stab at lost love. The Final Farewell
And just when you think the album can't get any better, "Last one in the Bar" produces another whisky and smoke-fueled hit. The closer "Take me to Your Leader" sends us off in style with a wake-up call to the latest generation. If you love bands like The Dogs D'Amour, you'll recognize the elements of that classic sound in Prophets of Addiction. But this time, Lesli has truly outdone himself. It's the band's greatest moment to date. Wonderful.Track List:01. Flavor of The Danger02. Let’s Get High03. Slippin’ Away04. Walk The World05. Maggie May06. Superhero07. I Want You To Know08.
