Wrestling

Tuesdays were filled with intense wrestling matches. East teams dominated in both girls and boys categories. East 35, West 6 for girls and East 42, West 30 for boys. South also had a strong showing with South 83, Service 0 for boys and South 36, Service 24 for girls. Soldotna 115, Nikiski 11 was a close battle between the two. Chugiak 42, Eagle River 0 was another exciting match. Eagles had a chance to turn the tide with Eagle River 42, Chugiak 25 in the boys' category. Dimond was on fire with Dimond 24, Bartlett 12 for girls and Dimond 51, Bartlett 23 for boys. Redington 113, Houston 12 was a tough battle as well. Wednesdays saw Delta 17, Student Wrestling Development Program 12 in a close match. Lathrop 30, West Valley 23 for girls and West Valley 60, Lathrop 22 for boys added to the excitement. Thursdays had Student Wrestling Development Program 42, Orting 10 for boys and Orting 58, Student Wrestling Development Program 17 for boys. Hockey also had its moments. Tuesdays saw Palmer 10, Colony 7 and Dimond 2, Wasilla 1. Wednesdays had South 11, Bartlett 1 and Chugiak 6, Dimond 1. Thursdays had North Pole 3, Colony 2. Fridays had Palmer 7, Soldotna 1 and West 5, Eagle River 0. Saturdays brought Palmer 4, Kenai Central 1 and Chugiak 9, Bartlett 2. Bowling was also a sight to behold. On Mondays, East teams had a good start with East 33, Service 2 and East – Tristan Andrew 237. West 35, Eagle River 0 was another strong performance. Dimond 33, Chugiak 2 was a close match with Dimond – Tim Kiehn 171 and Chugiak – Michale Nelson 133. Bartlett 20, South 15 was another exciting game with Bartlett – Sean Yoon 222 and South – Jack Wood 182. In girls' bowling, East 25, Service 10 with East – Lina Phatthana 185 and Service – Lillian Blumenberg 173. West 29, Eagle River 6 with West – Kendall Bencid 131 and Eagle River – Morgan Van Slyke 134. Dimond 24, Chugiak 11 with Dimond – Jarriah Silverio 151 and Chugiak – Abigail Lanehart 209. College Sports

Thursday saw some intense college basketball games. UAA 78, Saint Martin’s 58 and Western Oregon 82, UAF 73. Saturday brought Saint Marin’s 105, UAF 71 and UAA v. Western Oregon (late). Men’s basketball also had its moments with Saint Martin’s 79, UAA 74 and UAF 87, Western Oregon 72. Saturday saw Saint Marin’s 71, UAF 63 and UAA 71, Western Oregon 49. Hockey had its share of action on Wednesday with UAA 4, Stonehill 1. Friday had Merrimack 4, UAA 2 and Augustana 3, UAF 1. Saturday had UAA 3, Merrimack 1 and UAF v. Augustana (late). In NAHL, Friday saw Anchorage Wolverines 4, Wisconsin Windigo 1 and Saturday had Anchorage Wolverines 5, Wisconsin Windigo 3.
