Pune: A 38-year-old farmer from Mhalunge village in Mulshi suffered severe injuries after his scooter was hit by a compact sports utility vehicle (SUV) on the service road of the Katraj-Dehu Road bypass near Radha Chowk.
The accident happened late on Saturday night. The victim, Amol Padale, sustained head injuries and a fracture on his right shin bone.“The victim is unconscious and undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Chinchwad,” an officer from the Hinjewadi police said.
The officer said an eye-witness told the police the SUV was being driven by a woman. “We have seized the vehicle and booked the woman for rash driving,” the officer said.
He said Padale’s brother Atul Padale stated in his complaint that on Saturday night, his brother had borrowed a friend’s scooter and was driving along the service road when the SUV hit him. “The complainant, who reached the spot, found his brother lying unconscious along the road. He sustained injuries on his head, face and right leg,” the officer said.
