Seeking Talented Local Artists
Harmony for Hope is actively seeking applications from talented local artists whose work celebrates and draws inspiration from the Appalachian heritage. The organization is particularly interested in artists who utilize a wide range of methods and mediums, from visual arts to music, crafts, and beyond. The Appalachian Artisan Spotlight initiative aims to showcase the diverse talents of Appalachian artists, with a focus on Fayette County and West Virginia. In partnership with The Greater Kanawha Valley Foundation and Grow WV, Harmony for Hope will offer free video production for selected artists, to be featured on its YouTube channel. Carrie Kidd, the project coordinator of the Fayette County Community Arts Center, expressed her excitement about the Appalachian Artisan Spotlight. "We're really looking forward to that focusing on the community, focusing on Appalachian artistry," she said. The organization is already receiving applications from artists eager to be part of this initiative, and Kidd is confident that the spotlight will showcase the rich artistic talent within the region.Expanding Reach and Impact
While the initial approach will be to feature the selected artists through digital content on Harmony for Hope's YouTube channel, the organization has plans to eventually showcase the work in a gallery format at the Fayette County Community Arts Center. "We're diligently working to get that open," said Kidd, indicating the organization's commitment to providing a physical platform for the artists to display their creations.Evaluating Applicants with Care
A committee will be in place to carefully evaluate the applicants for the Appalachian Artisan Spotlight. The organization is dedicated to ensuring that the selected artists truly represent the diverse and talented pool of Appalachian artists.
