Honda's popular three-row SUV, the Pilot, is receiving a significant mid-cycle refresh for the 2026 model year, bringing a host of enhancements to its exterior aesthetics, interior technology, and overall driving refinement. These updates aim to bolster its appeal in the competitive SUV market, building upon the foundation laid by the current generation that debuted for the 2023 model year.
The exterior of the 2026 Honda Pilot showcases a more assertive stance, primarily due to a redesigned grille that adopts a less trapezoidal shape than its predecessor. Further visual enhancements include more prominent front and rear scuff plates, which are offered in either silver or black depending on the chosen trim level, adding a touch of rugged sophistication. Under the hood, the powertrain remains a familiar and reliable 3.5-liter V-6 engine, consistently delivering 285 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque. This robust engine is paired exclusively with a smooth 10-speed automatic transmission. For those seeking enhanced traction and capability, all-wheel drive is available as an option and comes standard on the TrailSport, Touring, Elite, and Black Edition trims.
Stepping inside, the cabin of the 2026 Pilot undergoes a notable technological upgrade. Drivers will appreciate a significantly larger 10.2-inch digital display, marking a substantial 43 percent increase in size. The central infotainment touchscreen also sees a considerable expansion, growing by 37 percent to a generous 12.3 inches. Complementing the larger displays are software enhancements designed to improve user experience. A simplified navigation application, now featuring fewer embedded menus, makes routing and exploration more intuitive. Furthermore, Google Built-In functionality, along with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, are now standard features across the range, ensuring seamless smartphone integration.
Honda has also prioritized cabin acoustics in the refreshed Pilot. Engineers implemented several measures to reduce unwanted noise, resulting in a quieter and more serene interior environment. Certain frequencies have been decreased by as much as three decibels through the addition of new semi-tempered door glass, enhanced door insulators, and a new hood insulator. The Touring and Elite models further benefit from enclosed fender liners, contributing to an even more hushed ride. Beyond comfort, the driving dynamics have also been refined; Honda states it has improved the Pilot's steering feel and feedback by increasing the on-center steering weight and recalibrating the electric power steering system. Convenience is also a focus, with a power liftgate now a standard feature across all trim levels.
While official pricing details for the 2026 Pilot have yet to be announced, the vehicle will be available in six distinct trims: Sport, EX-L, Touring, TrailSport, Elite, and Black Edition. Enthusiasts will also have the option to choose from two new exterior colors: Silver Metallic and Smoke Blue Pearl. The TrailSport variant receives an exclusive Ash Green Metallic finish, a color that will also be available across other Honda TrailSport models. Given that the entry-level 2025 Pilot started at $41,695 (including destination charges), it is anticipated that the refreshed 2026 model will maintain a similar price point, with the minor updates unlikely to significantly inflate the MSRP despite the general trend of rising new car prices.
