1 Dead, 6 Injured in Cicero Car Chase & Shooting

In Cicero, Illinois, a harrowing incident unfolded as a west suburban car chase came to a tragic end with a shooting and crash in the heart of Chicago. Just before 12:30 p.m., first responders from Cicero and Chicago rushed to the scene at the intersection of West Roosevelt Road and Cicero Avenue in Lawndale.

Witness Accounts and Chaos

Witnesses recounted a terrifying scene where a white car was in hot pursuit of a black car from Cicero. The black car then crashed into two other vehicles at the border of Chicago. In an instant, multiple gunmen emerged from the white car and opened fire. Louis Rainone, the owner of Roosevelt Gold Exchange, described the chaos, saying, "And then, they rolled over to the side of the street, and no sooner after that, a Bucha came, turned guys got out with guns. He just started lighting up the car. It’s like, it’s a war. That’s what we’re in. We’re in a war."

Victim Details and Hospitalizations

A Cicero spokesperson revealed that at least four people suffered gunshot wounds, and one of them tragically died on the scene. The Chicago Fire Department reported that three other people were also injured in the incident. Two individuals were transported in critical condition to Stroger Hospital, while two others were taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital in serious condition. Another person was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital in good condition, and a sixth person was transported to Loretto Hospital in good condition.

Police Investigation and Closure

The intersection of Roosevelt and Cicero is currently closed as police conduct their investigation into the shooting. As of now, no one has been taken into custody, and information about the victims' identities remains unavailable. This incident has left the community in shock and has raised many questions about the safety and security of the area.
